Shuttles are Good for Resting

On the Shuttle after the 1/2I wasn’t as prepared for the Virginia Beach 1/2 Marathon as I was for the Nashville. Actually I wasn’t prepared AT ALL. The race went through a wonderfully shady neighborhood, which I was very thankful for, then Camp Pendleton, and downtown where Jason found me and cheered me on. The last leg was on the Oceanfront Boardwalk and that was awesome because I had the Atlantic view but it was oh so hot. I’ve learned my lesson about signing up for races during the summer. I’m a fall, winter, spring runner and I’m okay with that.

It’s great being here in Virginia and having the chance to do this run with Jason, Angela, and Matt, and as always it’s so nice visiting with Jason and Angela and their crazy little puppies here in Richmond!

Reflecting

I went running today soon after it began to snow. It was so beautiful. Everything was grey and still and I could hear the snow falling on the trees. It was a nice afternoon for daydreaming. Makes me wish I could do December all over again. Depression can put a bit of a damper on those around you. Apologies.

And in other news. Super Camry is dying. We are all feeling somber here at the little grey house. Tomorrow we’ll know whether to be humane and put it out of it’s misery or give it a second chance. I’m voting for a quick death and a new Jetta. Yes, I’ve heard about the problems VW’s have. I don’t care. I want a Jetta. Just a little one.

I am not a runner.

It’s all official as of an hour ago. The money’s on the table so there’s no turning back. I’ve signed up for the Country Music Marathon and 1/2 Marathon. I’m doing the half because I just decided on this yesterday and I’m really excited but I’m also scared even though it’s only 13 miles. I’m thinking that after this maybe I’ll sign up for a marathon in the fall. Yay me! (And possibly my two running mates!)
