breakfast with all the Strouds and meeting Pop Pop and Mamie Grey
gulls chasing the ferry across the Pamlico
tinkling sea shells, sunshine, sand in my ears, and sand burrs between my toes

whippoorwills call and fireflies blink back at the boats and little crabs scuttle around our tent while we sleep
floating sideways in blue-green goodness
sea gulls, ibises, sandpipers, egrets, blue herron, pelicans, and plovers

sailing on the sound at sunset and later drinking in fine music at a dive by the water
walking home under a blue moon with laughter and music winding around the roads behind us and invisible bicycles passing without a sound.

sleeping above lilies and jasmine and roses climbing everywhere in the morning sun
Watching the moon rise over the atlantic and chasing tiny crabs along the beach
seeing the swirly twirl light waving hello from Hatteras
fresh shrimp and blue fish and tuna

tea roses and tiger lilies in ale bottles and homemade pumpkin muffins under the shade of live oaks and cedar trees
shelling and salt spray and sea foam on my toes

coming home through cool drizzly blue mountains
gallery hopping and sushi and the Izzy Cafe
Love and smiles and happiness with my true love and a year in our pocket

Wow, sounds like a great trip! It’s always nice to get away for a while. I remember going to Kitty Hawk and OBX when I was a kid. The sand dunes were HOT and the sand burrs did not feel good!

Hey Jared! It really was a great trip and I learned my lesson about the perils of sand last time we were there. And congratulations on graduate school by the way! Hopefully I’ll see you guys this month?

Hey thanks! The bad news: we won’t be able to make it this time.
I need to be at work at the end of the month. The good news: We’re going to the beach on the 30th! The great news: We’ll be closing on our new house on July 9th!!
