Shuttles are Good for Resting

On the Shuttle after the 1/2I wasn’t as prepared for the Virginia Beach 1/2 Marathon as I was for the Nashville. Actually I wasn’t prepared AT ALL. The race went through a wonderfully shady neighborhood, which I was very thankful for, then Camp Pendleton, and downtown where Jason found me and cheered me on. The last leg was on the Oceanfront Boardwalk and that was awesome because I had the Atlantic view but it was oh so hot. I’ve learned my lesson about signing up for races during the summer. I’m a fall, winter, spring runner and I’m okay with that.

It’s great being here in Virginia and having the chance to do this run with Jason, Angela, and Matt, and as always it’s so nice visiting with Jason and Angela and their crazy little puppies here in Richmond!

We Left on a Friday

Listening to Leonard Cohen while driving east on I-40 passing through Knoxville. Jason and Matt talk of photography. Church steeples and neon-lined buildings fill the horizon with JFG flashing behind Regas on the right. Cranes and blinking lights and urban salvage sprawling and the sound of semis passing me on the left. I pass time watching the light diffuse in the mist. The potential for disaster crosses my mind as the parking lights travel along on the slicked concrete wall.
